NEWS - News from WA

The Advantage Group is the largest group of trained, independent carpet, upholstery & tile cleaning technicians in Western Australia and the group is growing by numbers rapidly month by month. The Group helps technicians to direct & assist in obtaining their certification II & III. It also assist its members to obtain the ‘Carpet Cleaners Registration Program’ created by the Building Services Contractors Association of Australia (BSCAA) which is now an advertised/media program alerting the general public of WA to the needs of carpet cleaners to obtain formal training and the safeguards that it brings.
Workshops, tagging days, social days and gaining better buying & insurance discounts are all part of the norm for an Advantage member. The Group claims to have the best networking of carpet and tile technicians in the West! Annual General Meeting
Last spring saw our AGM at the Willeton Sports Club. The Group would again like to thank our sponsors for the event; Prochem, PowerClean (Aust) and our local Abco Products store which again gave our Group the recognition that it deserves!
Outgoing President Mr. Frank Preo welcomed everyone in attendance and later also those new members who came to the open forum.
He also highlighted the industry speakers who addressed the Group later and encouraged everyone to especially take on the Green Stamp Program which runs well with the Groups OH&S standards that the Group had achieved. Marketing, OH&S issues, Workshop programs for 2008 were just a few of the topics covered for the day. Members were well aware of the Group’s coming programs and walked away with show bags of sponsors giveaways!


Van/Truck Field Day
November the 17th saw the Group’s field day at Whiteman Park. Plenty of vans & trucks turned up for the event and again we thank Prochem for sponsoring the drinks for the occasion! Families enjoyed the bbq while committee members examined the machinery on display. Congratulations to Andrew Gargin from Ultra Clean who won best set up for the day with his new Prochem Everest hp 650. Other winners of the day were; Safest Van – Greg King / Kingston Cleaning Services.
Encouragement award – Stephen Braae / Committed Cleaning. Best MSDS display – Greg King / Kingston. Best Uniform – Frank Preo / Fresh Aire Carpet Cleaning. More field days will be held during 2008 so if you’re in the West come along get to know the Group and what it can do for you!
